The Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall is located in Muar, Johor. The main directive of designing the Muar Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall from the onset was to include the elements of "Green Environment", "Ecological Friendly", "Sustainability", "Environment Friendly", and "Healthy Living", while emphasizing harmony between human beings and the environment. The design is also based on the traditional Chinese "San-He-Yuan" concept, which comprises three buildings surrounding a central courtyard. The development is a multi-functional complex comprising a Conference Hall, Continuing Education Centre, Kindergarten, and other supporting facilities. The Jing-Si Hall adopts natural cross ventilation and natural daylighting to cool and illuminate the internal spaces, thereby minimizing the use of air-conditioning and reducing electricity consumption. The building is designed to operate using a mixed-mode ventilation strategy for its day-to-day operations. To reduce solar heat gain, sun-shading devices and roof overhangs are incorporated as key architectural features throughout the building. Tzu Chi is also renowned for its commitment to recycling, where recycling activities extend beyond the building itself to the surrounding community. Other Green Features Recycling of grey water using a bio-filtering system. Renewable energy generation through photovoltaic (PV) panels. Rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation. The majority of lighting fixtures are LED, with the remaining fixtures using energy-saving lighting technologies. All these design strategies contribute towards creating an environmentally friendly green building.
